SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMISATION – SEEDING & DISTRIBUTION

It’s a little like fishing …

It’s a beautiful summer’s dawn by the seaside. The sun creeps up over the horizon and heeding the call of the sirens, you push out on your boat in search of a rich catch of fish.

A few hours later you’re out on the deep ocean, the waves are gentle, your engine is purring beautifully and you’ve that lucky feeling in your gut, or at least you think you do. The short wave radio crackles as other fishermen join the hunt, everyone’s is headed 224* NW to a popular fishing spot where large schools of sardines have been spotted glistening under the water’s surface. (If you don’t like fishing, just stay with us because we’re going somewhere pretty cool with this …)

You get to the hot zone and eagerly cast your nets and line over the side. Then you wait. And wait. And wait some more. Hours later, there’s not even one bite. You move the boat to another spot, which even the most salted of fishermen swears will deliver a guaranteed catch. And there you wait some more. Nothing, nada, zip.

All the waiting gives you time to think that there must be a better way of doing things.

By the end of the day that lucky feeling you had in your gut has soured into a ball of frustration and as the other hordes of disappointed fishing boats give up or head off to chase other elusive catches, you see one trawler sneaking past, its bottom dragging deep in the water as its storage tanks bulge with catch.

What are they doing that you’re not? And what does fishing have to do with search engine optimisation?

At Storyhead we look at the Internet as one vast ocean, populated with lots of fish, and different species of fish. (The fish in this case are online consumers ready to buy). It often takes very set of specialised hooks and baits and strategies to land even the slowest and fattest fish let alone the small and slippery fingerlings, and in the same vein we believe businesses today absolutely need the right bait and hook to win over fast moving and sometimes slippery Internet consumers.

So we’ve developed what we know (and have tested over many fishing excursions) to be a highly effective bait and catch methodology for Internet commerce.

Intrigued? Well go on then, keep reading!!

Thousands of corporations today hear about youtube, myspace, digg, newsvine, reddit, del.icio.us, stumble this, facebook, twitter, and and jump the bandwagon in the hope of getting a slice of the ecommerce pie. They launch their website, smack on a facebook, digg it and twitter icon (that leads people AWAY from their website instead of drawing people to it) and wait for the online sales to come flooding in. Do you hear the crickets chirping as loudly as we do?

The problem is that without the right knowledge, marketers all too willingly cast out their line into the vast sea of the Internet and then hope against hope with fingers crossed, that the fish are swimming their way today. More often than not, the fish don’t bite, because their feeding grounds are miles away from where the line has been cast.

Now what if we told you we’ve found a way of launching of a fleet of fishing vessels to trawl the Internet ocean for ready to buy consumers at point of their search and bring them to YOU??!!

SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimisation’ and relates to rearranging or repositioning a website’s content to improve the efficiency of it being found by the customers looking for your particular service and product. And please believe us, depending on your industry, there are millions of consumers out there looking for your products but if they can’t find you, they’ll go with the mediocre dude who’s paid millions for ad words on Google for a higher ranking. And you don’t necessarily need to pay thousands for adwords to get online traffic coming your way.

The first service we offer under our SEO banner is THE SEO NET TRAWLER. With years of online experience, our expertise at Storyhead is in understanding what drives online traffic in order to fully harness the functionality of the web and it’s potential to become a significant revenue stream for you.

SEO NET TRAWLER is a specifically designed offering that powerfully drives your website and content to the top tiers of search engines and guide your interested prospects back to your website for further information and sales opportunities.

Here are the key concepts that make up our SEO Net Trawler:

Bait
Video is the new king in SEO and with the web already vastly overcrowded with text pages a billion times over, it is much easier for a company to land at the top of the search rankings with video content. In fact, statistics show that video has an 11,000-to-1 chance of making it onto the first page of results, while a text page has a 500,000-to-1 probability. Forrester Research claims that “a fourth of Google searches return videos in the results” and “videos are 53 times more likely to appear on the first page of search results than text pages.” With universal search becoming ever more popular across the web, sites must also now consider publishing video on (and off) their sites and tagging them with searchable keywords.

So video is our bait of choice. However it’s not as simple as throwing up a video and hoping it works. The strategy behind the video – the content, the filming values, the length of the video, the key tags, etc – are key in converting viewers into believers of your product and service.

And that’s what we’re really great at doing – determining what kind of information audiences are looking for and furthermore, how best to design that content to give you maximum results.

Radar (Research)
Millions of people use search engines to find the information they want. How do people will find you amidst the myriad of listings that are similar to yours? I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a way to guide and control the traffic that will result in your website being effective.

Fishermen today use sophisticated 3D electronic charting and high definition radar to place them within a few meters of the best fishing location. We use a similar approach in crafting a digital video campaign. After all you don’t want to just dump all your bait into the ocean but use it strategically to target your demographic. Using research tools we can decide which platforms to use to display digital content to generate the most interest. We’ll also guide you in the selection of the right key words in order to direct the traffic to you. It’s this keyword research that will help locate where the traffic is going and capture them at the search stage.

Fleet Trawling (Positioning Digital Content)
Imagine instead of having one TV commercial on one or two TV channel, if you could effectively “air” the content on thousands of channels to a specific audience and at various times and locations. It’s the difference between sending out one boat with a few lines to catch fish and deploying an entire fleet to multiply your effectiveness. When it comes to the Internet you definitely need a fleet because the size of it is so vast, the fish are so many and the location of the best fishing is highly variable, unless of course you have a strong and informed strategic approach.
